Today we are doing a tag again, a very tricky one if you ask me. The questions are a bit more personal and it had me thinking for SUCH a long time. WHO AM I?! Ha-ha. The lovely Nikita @Prose & Pancakes tagged me in this one. Check out her blog, she does a lot of fun posts!

This tag was originally created by PBS Digital Studios for The Great American Read competition of which you can find the results here.

If your life were a book genre, what would it be?

It would probably be comedy? Maybe a funny children’s book? It’s not that I think I’m very funny, but more so that stuff always tends to go wrong and it makes for a lot of funny stories. I’m a very clumsy person and I tend to have bad luck. I’m the type of person who can break something just by looking at it and who has had more awkward interactions with people than I can even recount. To illustrate my point, just now while writing this post I burnt a piece of my hair trying to light a candle. I wish I was making that up.

What villain from a book do you identify with the most?

an anonymous girl  Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

A villain from a book… that’s such a tough one. I’m a little bit like the crazy researcher person in An Anonymous Girl because I’m actually running some psychological research for my masters right now and sometimes I feel like I’m ‘messing’ with people. Or maybe right now I’m like Umbridge from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix because I have a cold and am constantly doing that annoying *hem hem* cough? I guess that works.

What protagonist are you most similar to?

lock every door

These questions are so haaaaaaaard. Man. I don’t have any deep thoughts on protagonists I’m similar to. I read thrillers. Characters are mostly just unlikeable and frustrating. Let’s just go with this: I’m similar to Jules from Lock Every Door because I’m broke and I would totally go live in a creepy house if they paid me for it. I could have BEEN Jules.

Which book did you connect with in the past that you no longer do?

*Insert any angsty teen book about a girl wondering from afar if a boy likes her and being jealous of any girl that makes eye contact with him or even gets to breathe in his general direction*

What recent book you read would you love to be a character in?

witch hat atelier  111111.PNG

Hm… since I wouldn’t want to be a character in any of the thrillers or heavy contemporary’s I read, I’m going with a world in a manga series I started this year. Witch Hat Atelier focusses on a girl in a world where magic seems to be something only a select group of people can still practice (but nothing is as it seems). The magic system works with drawing different kinds of symbols inside circles and it’s just the coolest thing ever. I used to draw a lot so I think I could potentially be a very skilled witch in this world.

How do your reading habits show off your personality?

This is where we really get to the bottom of things. So, I often pick up books just to find out I’m not in the mood for it. I tend to have waves of what genres I like, but the core of my reading will always consist of thrillers, mainly the ones where we follow the messed up people and not the nice detective trying to solve the case. I don’t like series because I never end up finishing them and lose interest. I only like to read romance heavy books on rare occasions, otherwise I try to actively avoid books with a focus on it. So what does that say about me? It kind of makes me sound like an unstable, grumpy person who’s only interested in messed up people.😂

What book thaught you something about yourself?

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine thaught me that 1. I am definitely more of an introvert than I thought I was, 2. that it’s completely fine (pun intended), and 3. that I don’t have to change for anyone and just need to focus on the people I enjoy being around, even if we’re all just a bunch of weirdos together. I tend to want to be friends with everyone and put a lot of effort into people who don’t do the same for me. This is something I have been working on but it was really nice to see Eleanor be herself, open up to people, and make meaningful connections.

  1. yikes i’m the worst at keeping up with my notifications, i can’t believe i just saw this post! thank you so much for tagging me and i can’t wait to have fun answering the questions 😀
your first answer is so me 😂 – in chemistry lab, i somehow managed to set the test tube holder on fire! i find it interesting that you identify with umbridge because of your cough – back when i was reading the book i used to have a theory that she has a perpetual cold which she’s using to her advantage by using it to interrupt people. i’m not a big reader of manga but i’d love to give witch hat atelier a try someday – the magic system you mentioned seems really interesting! ❤

  2. Thank you so much for the tag Nikki ❤ I’ve already done it before, but I’m super eager to do it again! Honestly, my life is a boring contemporary 😂 I’m not overly awkward, but I’m horrible at being social IRL, so I end up with a rather boring life lol. Sometimes I wish it were a thriller…but that’s probably not a very good idea

    1. You’re welcome! I’m glad it’s still one you’re interested in even though you have already done it. That is so relatable, I’m totally a boring contemporary too sometimes haha. Thriller is probably not a good idea no, with my luck I’d be the first one to get killed haha, but maybe you could be the one to solve the crime.

  3. Thank you so much for the tag! And omg these questions! Why do they have to be so hard?! 😀
Ahaha, I love thrillers with messed up main characters or unreliable mcs. I def can relate to the “waves of what genre I like”. Just yesterday I spent 2, TWO, hours browsing through lists and lists of books trying to choose something to read. I’ve started 5 books just to close them after a few pages or sentences.
    Who said reading was easy???
Oh, and I love that you mentioned Eleanor in this post ❤ I'm so in love with her and the book!

  4. Nikki!! Thank you SO much for tagging me, it’s the first time I see this tag and I loved it, it’s super original and I love your answers ❤️
OMG, same about the “angsty teen book” thing, I think if I read something like that right now I couldn’t finish it, which I think is a good thing 😅

  5. Ohh… this is an interesting tag with some hard questions!! I loved reading your answers. I has no idea what genre I would be but I love your answer as you are like a Children’s funny book because that is a mood. I seem to be very clumsy lately, I was walking in through the door the other day and I tripped and landed on my knees 😂 Oh no, your hair catching fire whilst lighting a candle. That would scare me!! I hope your hair is okay!!
You answer for ‘Which book did you connect with in the past that you no longer do?’ made me laugh 😂😂 I loved it!!
I’m glad that Eleanor could help you and make you realise who you should devote your time to and that you don’t have to change for people . It sounds like a really positive story! 🙂
Thank you so much for tagging me and your kind words!! ❤

    1. It was a fun one, I’m glad you liked my answers! I hope your knees are okay after that fall, that definitely sounds like something that could have happened to me too (I fall all the time, especially outside where lots of people can see… so fun haha). My hair is fine. Luckily it was only a very small piece, but it will still always be remembered haha. Eleanor was a really positive story in the end. It was quite emotional and sad, but it also had very heart-warming bits and a positive overall message. You’re so welcome, I can’t wait to read your answers! 🙂 ❤

      1. Yeah I was okay, I got a really big bruise for my efforts though!! 😂 Haha we can be clumsy together!! Falling in public is the worse– I still remember that time I did it at school!! It gives me nightmares 😂
haha I’m clear to hear it!! 😂
That sounds wonderful!! Thank you! ❤
