lock every door

Lock Every Door by Riley Sager || This was great! Consider me a Riley Sager fan now, after very much enjoying both Final Girls and Lock Every Door. It wasn’t the most plot twisty book ever, but it was VERY atmospheric and fast-paced. The setting is really what made this book for me.

astonishing color of after  run away  Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan || This is the first book I picked up after finishing Lock Every Door. I haven’t read very far and I am enjoying it. It’s just quite a heavy read and it’s been quite an eventful week, so I had to put it down a couple of times because I just wasn’t in the right mindset. Hoping to get further next week!

Run Away by Harlan Coben || Since I have already read 5 of the top 10 mystery & thriller books in the Goodreads Choice Awards, I thought I could try to read them all and make my own ranking. So I picked this up on audio and it’s alright so far? It’s interesting enough to continue but not really gripping so I keep putting it down.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling || I was feeling a bit sulky and  since I also kept putting down both the books I was reading, I thought why not continue with Re-reading Harry Potter. The audiobooks never fail to make me feel comfy and cozy 🙂

Witch Hat Atelier
By Kamome Shirahama

Synopsis first volume:
“In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: She wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with the gift for magic. She’s resigned to her un-magical life,
until a traveling magician passes through her village, and Coco learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth.”

For the magical readathon, after I finish The Astonishing Color of After and Harry Potter, I have to read a manga/graphic novel/comic. I’m on the third book in this manga series. The art is extremely beautiful and the story and magic system is really interesting so far.

These are the books I have recently read, am currently reading and plan to read next.

Have you read any of these books?
What was the last book you finished?

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

    1. I think his books are more mystery/thriller than suspence. Though those genres are pretty close in my mind. I would definitely recommend them to you! They are action packed, edge of your seat books that are not very gory or explicitly violent. So I’d say that works! (I can only speak for Final Girls and Lock Every Door though, I haven’t read The Last Time I Lied)

  1. I’m so excited to see that you enjoyed Lock Every Door! I can’t wait to get the chance to pick it up myself.

The Astonishing Color of After is a super heavy read, so I don’t blame you for taking it slow. I had to sandwich it between two humor books I’d been saving specifically for that purpose. xD

Oooh, I’ve never heard of Witch Hat Atelier, but that looks like a super cute read! Hope you enjoy it.

    1. Yea Lock Every Door was not the most thrilling book ever but the atmosphere and the pacing still made it a great read for me. I hope you end up enjoying it too, can’t wait to see what you think of it! I can imagine you had to sandwich The Astonishing Color of After between humor books now that I’m reading, the Harry Potter audiobook is helping me too haha. The first two volumes of Witch Hat Atelier were great, the art is amazing and the story is super fun as well. I really hope it continues to be great 🙂

  2. I haven’t read anything by Riley Sager – it’s good to see that there are some great thrillers out there to turn to!

Yay for rereading Harry Potter. I’ve been wanting to, but my oldest child is six and I’m trying to wait for him so that we can read together. I think it’ll happen very soon!!
