Before we get on with the post… Hi! It’s me Nikki. Yes, I’m still alive. I have been gone for quite some time,9 months to be exact. The main reason why I’ve been gone is simply because life has been a bit chaotic. I’m the type of person who spends an eternity working on my posts and general blog graphics because I want everything to look exactly right. That paired with some big life changes and doing my masters, it was just not working out so well anymore. Another thing that contributed to my disappearance, though I’m sad to admit it, was that it felt like nobody was really paying attention to my posts and it made me feel like it wasn’t worth all the effort anymore. However, recently I’ve been missing my blog and I feel the desire to share my love for books again. I don’t know how this is going to work out but I guess time will tell.
The Girl from the Other Side by Nagabe || I got this in the mail a few days ago and instantly read it in one go. I’ve been enthralled by the cover art for a while now, which was my main reason for picking it up. The story is about this little girl who is supposed to be living on the Inside, a safe place inhabited by humans. However, we find her living on the Outside with teacher, a monster infected by the curse. These two seem to be living a fairly peaceful life, but who knows what type of evil might be lurking around? This was a great first volume and had very cool art as expected!
Death Note Omnibus II by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata || I read the first 3 volumes (1,5 omnibus volume) in 2016. Then I got distracted and never ended up getting back into it. Now that I’ve been getting more and more into manga, I feel like I needed to give this well-loved series a second shot. I decided to re-read from the start and continue on. The parts I had already read before were kind of a drag to read again, especially with the first volumes setting up the whole story. However the 4th volume (last half of the second omnibus) things started picking up again. I’m actually quite excited to continue on now.
A Clash of Kings (#2) by George R.R. Martin || After the huge disappointment that was the final season of the Game of Thrones tv show, I am slowly making my way through the second book. No idea how long it might take to finish this, since the first one literally took me over 2 years to read.
Crooked Kingdom (#2) by Leigh Bardugo || I started this one a while ago and got to around 200 pages in no time, then uni got busy and rudely separated me from this gem. Now it’s been a while and I want to get back into it, but I want to do so when I have enough time and focus to really immerse myself in the story again, not reading a chapter then putting it down for a week.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (#5) by J.K. Rowling || I have been re-reading Harry Potter on audio ever since I first finished the series last year. It has become sort of a comfort thing for me. When I’m stressed about my thesis or internship I put it on, when a long day of socializing has me worn out I put it on, when I can’t fall asleep I put it on… I have been falling asleep to the same 15 minutes of the story for the past 2 weeks.
These are the books I have recently read, am currently reading and plan to read next.
Have you read any of these books?
What was the last book you finished?
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!
