I was tagged by the very charming Alex @Alex’s Charming Books. Thanks again! See what I did there? So cheesy… let’s move on. This tag is a pretty short one. It’s always fun to talk about books you don’t want to read. Be negative for a change. I decided to give two answers for each question, just because there are so many books I’m not planning to read. I’m also terrible at choosing things.
1. A REALLY HYPED BOOK THAT YOU’RE NOT INTERESTED IN READING
These could be a million other popular Young Adult books. I chose to go with YA because those always tend to get more hype. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey are just the first two books that jumped out at me when searching through a “popular YA books” list. It’s funny to see how these books unintentionally match my answer for question 3. The thing is, when reading the synopses for these books (or hearing someone talk about it) they just don’t sound like something I would enjoy. There’s no other way to explain it.
2. A SERIES YOU WON’T START/WON’T BE FINISHING
It’s safe to say I was not a fan of the first book in The Selection series. I totally get why people find this a fast read, guilty pleasure read. What I don’t get is how anyone could put up with America (the MC) for more than one book. She was so naïve and indecisive. I get a little angry just thinking about her. There is no way I am picking up the next book. The Throne of Glass series is so incredibly hyped up. I was never really excited about it, but it has only gotten worse every time I hear someone talk about it. The problem is that I already own the first book. I bought it because it was cheap, which is a terrible reason. Now I feel like I might still give it a try, but the chances of enjoying it enough to continue on with the series are quite slim.
3. A CLASSIC YOU’RE JUST NOT INTERESTED IN
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen are just two of the many classics I don’t plan on reading. Classics are not my thing. I am not at a place in my reading where I am able to enjoy them. Maybe that day will come, maybe not. Whenever I do end up picking up some classics I am quite sure these two won’t make an appearance. Why? They just sound extremely boring to me.
4. A GENRE YOU NEVER READ
Never is a pretty big word. I pride myself on reading a big variety of genres. There aren’t really any that I would never read. Some of the things that have proved to not be for me are romance and sci-fi. Why I’m not a fan of romance? Here you have a post I did giving 10 reasons why. Why I am not a fan of sci-fi? To be completely honest… it makes me feel dumb because I am constantly confused about what is happening. However, I do occasionally still try out books within these genres.
5. A BOOK ON YOUR SHELF THAT YOU’LL PROBABLY NEVER READ
This question is so much more painful than any of the others. It feels terrible to admit that there are books I spend money on… they are taking up space on my shelf… yet I’ll probably never read them. Luckily, there are very few books that meet the criteria.
I think The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin is the book most likely to never be read because 1) as mentioned, I am not that into sci-fi, 2) I have tried before and had a hard time understanding what was happening, 3. it’s not a short book, 4. it’s part of a series. Why did I buy it in the first place? … it looked cool. Another big one is Looking for Alaska by John Green. This book has been a struggle. I tried reading it over 3 years ago when I was on vacation in Spain. The unfortunate thing was that I just finished The Hunger Games and I did not pack Catching Fire. So while Trying to read Looking for Alaska, all I wanted to do is continue with the Hunger Games. It didn’t get a fair chance, but now I have just lost interest in it.

I am just going to ask you the most painful question.
Which book on your shelves will probably stay unread forever? And why?
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
