I Read Harry Potter for the First Time | May Wrap-Up

Well, well… Look what we have here. A wrap-up on the 16th of the month. We are officially closer to the ending of June than we are to the beginning. Let’s just pretend May has only just ended, shall we?

Schermafbeelding 2017-07-10 om 21.59.26.pngWRUP personal life.pngLet’s keep this part short and sweet because I’m not ready to talk about it. I spend the entire month in the library. I’m not even exaggerating. I went every day… even on the weekends… even when the weather was beautiful. Luckily it ended up paying off because I passed all my exams so far. Yaay! I have one exam left in about a month. So no summer break yet but I’m getting there. I’M GETTING THERE.

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
I’m not exaggerating when I say I have picked up this graphic novel and almost bought it at least 10 times before. This was at the bookstore where I go to find my Searching Saturday books. I can only hold back the urge to buy it so many visits, so last month I finally broke down and bought it!

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
Separate occasion, same bookstore. It was one of those days where I felt like there was just no possible way where I was leaving the bookstore without a book. So this happened. I don’t own that many contemporary romance type books because they are usually not my thing. But I thought I could try one this summer.

The Second Sister by Claire Kendal
After a long week of exams, I ended up in a bookstore. This book sounded cool and has a beautiful cover. The rest was history.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling – Schermafbeelding 2017-06-04 om 17.32.22
GUYS! I finally did it. I picked up the first Harry Potter book, for the first time! Sure, I was very excited for it because seemingly everybody in the book community is completely obsessed with the books. It’s everywhere. Though I was excited I was also very scared. What if I wouldn’t like it? Maybe that’s why it took me this many years to finally get to it. Anyhow… I completely fell in love with it just like everyone told me I would. Apparently, I also remembered exactly nothing from when I watched the movies. Which was great because now I was actually experiencing it for the first time. I’m thinking about doing a spoilery review/discussion type thing where I talk about my experience of reading it. Let me know if you would like that!

Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge (Audiobook) – Schermafbeelding 2017-06-04 om 17.33.17
Just after finishing this, I thought I was going to give it 3 stars. Then I realized I had very little good things to say about it. The synopsis sounded so good promising and terrifying. Yet I found myself bored and underwhelmed. There were a million different perspectives and I spend half the time trying to remember who was who. Not my thing. Review coming soon! I swear I will get on reviewing all the books I have yet to review.

This was so cute! I picked it up because I felt like reading something that would take a little bit less effort.  The art style was fun, the use of color was beautiful, and I loved the characters. Again, review coming soon!

The Leaving by Tara Altebrando – 85/421 pages read
I started this book before every other book I talked about, but I ended up putting it back down. Not entirely sure why… maybe it’s the strange format. The text is used in a unique way. Words jump around on the page and some pages only have one sentence on them. It’s pretty cool but I think I’m having some trouble to really get into the story because of it. Next month (this month) I will probably continue with it though!

Schermafbeelding 2017-07-10 om 21.59.26WRUP on the blog.pngDue to the studying, I haven’t really posted that much. I basically only posted my Searching Saturday posts. It was kinda giving me guilt feelings but I’m glad I took some time to focus on studying.

So the one exciting thing that happened on my blog this month was my redesign. I changed my banner and the style of my featured pictures. I was getting sick of the flowers in my design and I thought the stars would be more fitting with the name of my blog. I hope you guys like it!

My discussion on Problematic Thirteen Reasons Why Reviews is a post I’m really proud of because I feel like it’s an important topic. I didn’t want to post it at first because I was scared it would be too controversial but I’m glad I did it anyways.

Congrats on your exams and on reading HP for the first time!
I’m still reading Illuminae … it rests permanently on the head of my bed just waiting for me to read her and then a week goes by and I haven’t read any.
