Searching Saturday is a new weekly meme created by me! The aim is to search a book (or multiple books) that is new to you and fits the weekly theme. This could be a book to add to your TBR, or just to address on your blog. It’s up to you! You can search as many as you want, wherever you want.

You can find more information in the Introduction Post.
For a list of all past and future topics, go here.

This week’s topic is “Authors with an A”

Let’s end the month with a theme that might be a little more challenging. It’s all about the authors. Search for books of which the authors LAST name starts with an A.

searching-saturday-deviderFlowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews

10441334“It wasn’t that she didn’t love her children. She did. But there was a fortune at stake, a fortune that would assure their later happiness if she could keep the children a secret from her dying father.

So she and her mother hid her darlings away in an unused attic.
Just for a little while.
But the brutal days swelled into agonizing years. Now Cathy, Chris, and the twins wait in their cramped and helpless world, stirred by adult dreams, adult desires, served a meager sustenance by an angry, superstitious grandmother who knows that the Devil works in dark and devious ways. Sometimes he sends children to do his work, children who, one by one, must be destroyed…
Way upstairs there are four secrets hidden. Blond, beautiful, innocent. Struggling to stay alive…”

Where I found it & why I chose it
I found this list of authors with an A on Wikipedia. I just looked up some of the authors on this list to see if they wrote anything that seems like something I would enjoy. I had heard of V.C. Andrews before, which is why the name stood out to me. I didn’t realize she writes creepy horror type books. The synopsis makes me really excited to read this someday!

searching-saturday-deviderAdulthood is a Myth by Sarah Andersen

25855506“Are you a special snowflake?

Do you enjoy networking to advance your career?
Is adulthood an exciting new challenge for which you feel fully prepared?

Ugh. Please go away.

This book is for the rest of us. These comics document the wasting of entire beautiful weekends on the internet, the unbearable agony of holding hands on the street with a gorgeous guy, dreaming all day of getting home and back into pajamas, and wondering when, exactly, this adulthood thing begins. In other words, the horrors and awkwardnesses of young modern life.”

Where I found it & why I chose it
I found a Goodreads List dedicated to authors who’s last name starts with an A. This book was on that list and caught my attention because of the illustrations. I would love to read more graphic novels. This one seems funny and relatable, which is exactly what I want.
